Commitment in Adversity

When I made a  commitment to marry a preacher,
it was with joy, excitement and the dream of serving
God with all my heart.

Up to that point, I had experienced good health, success,
achievement, praise and gratitude. I had every reason
to expect that a life of ministry would mean more of the
same—plus greater joy and usefulness….

I was not prepared for serious and debilitating illness,
the miscarriage of a baby, the trauma of a financially
troubled church and personal attacks from the
family of faith.

Within one of my husband’s sermons, I found a
nugget of hope:

“Our adversities are God’s universities.”

The adversities drove me to God, and God had what
I needed to endure and fulfill the commitment I
had made.

In Ruth 1:16-17 the innocent young widow Ruth
expressed her passionate and devoted love for her old
and bitter Mother-in-law.
It was not Naomi’s beauty, wealth or even joyfulness
that drew Ruth to her, for all of these had long since
fallen away.

Rather, it was Naomi’s Faith in the Living God,
her Spiritual Wisdom, and her consistent piety that
bound the young pagan widow to her. Ruth made a
Commitment to travel, live and pursue life with
Naomi, to Accept her God and even to die and be
buried in Naomi’s homeland.

 Her commitment was not just with loving words
 and well-meaning feelings, as her sister-in-law
 Orpah (Ruth 1:14), but with purposeful love and
devoted deeds.

Commitment must be fueled not merely by head
knowledge but also by heart determination.
Ruth had nothing to offer to Naomi or to God
but herself, and that she gave willingly and
eagerly.

Every woman, whatever her circumstances or position,
has at least that to give the Savior, and it is enough!

“The cross is the greatest example
of humility and devotion in the universe.
Jesus put your needs ahead of His own.
He considered you more valuable
than Himself.”

“I should as soon expect a farmer to
 prosper in business who contented himself
 with sowing his fields and never looking

 as expect a believer to attain much holiness

 his prayers, and the use of his Sundays.”

“Cast not away your confidence because
 God defers His performances.
 That which does not come in your time,
 will be hastened in His time,
 which is always the more convenient season.
 God will work when He pleases,
 how He pleases,
 and by what means He pleases.
He is not bound to keep our time,
 but He will perform his word,
 honour our faith,
 and reward them that diligently seek Him.”

Following Jesus is not always
pleasant.
Following Jesus is not always
fun.
Following Jesus is not always
joyful.
Following Jesus is not always
a popular decision.

Following Jesus is often a
daily challenge.
Following Jesus is often a
test of self-discipline,
self-denial, self-control.
Following Jesus is often a
test of will…..
giving into self willfulness,
or giving into Gods Holy
will.

Following Jesus is often
a very lonely road to
travel.

We must ask ourselves
every single morning when
we rise with the sun…..

Am I willing to follow Jesus
today no matter where He
leads, even if it means taking
me out of my comfort zones?

What is your answer today?

Daily Scripture—Feb 10, 2015

Ruth 1:15-18 NIV

“Look, said Naomi, your sister-in-law
is going back to her people and her
gods. Go back with her.

But Ruth replied, Don’t urge me to
leave you or to turn back from you.
Where you go I will go, and where
you stay I will stay. Your people
will be my people and your God
my God.

Where you die I will die, and there
I will be buried. May the Lord
deal with me, be it ever so
severely, if even death separates
you and me.

When Naomi realized that Ruth
was determined to go with her,
she stopped urging her.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ruth 1:15-18 KJV
“And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law
is gone back unto her people,
and unto her gods;
return thou after thy sister-in-law.
And Ruth said, entreat me not to leave
thee, or to return from following after
thee: for whither thou goest, I will go;
and where thou lodgest, I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people, and thy
God my God.
Where thou diest, will I die, and
there will I be buried: the Lord do
so to me, and more also, if ought
but death part thee and me.
When she saw that she was steadfastly
mined to go with her, then she left
speaking unto her.”
Dearest Heavenly Father….
Today I come to You
 and ask that You
reveal to me any hidden
flaws that can become
a cancer in my attitude
today.Today I ask that You
reveal to my spirit
any sin I have not confessed
or ask forgiveness for.Today I ask that You
teach me how to crucify
my flesh.Today I ask that You
teach me how to
yield to the Holy
Spirit’s correction,
discipline and direction.
Father, show me how
to walk with the attitude
of Christ Jesus.
Father, teach me to
always listen with my
spirit and not my heart.
Lord, thank You for hearing my
deepest heart’s desire.
Lord, thank You for hearing my
cries to become more like
Jesus in my daily everyday
life.
I hope that I am a blessing
to You, my King.
I hope that my praises are
sweet to Your ears.
I love You, King Jesus!
Attitude
I have discovered that attitude is a big
maker or breaker for me.
Sometimes I just do not have the ability
to pull my self up by my boot straps
and suck it up….
in other words….
put on a happy face when I am crushed
in spirit and so broken hearted.
Other times I am as gitty as a child
in a candy store.
We all have issues that hurt us and
crush us.
We all have issues that arise that
makes us madder than a hornet
on a hot sultry day.
We all have issues that drops our
heart and spirit into the bottomless
pits of despair.
We all have issues that makes us
so nervous that it shakes us to the
core of our being.
We all have to face frustrations
in our daily lives…..
these frustrations sometimes
makes us as crazy as the Mad
Hatter in the Alice in Wonderland
Story Books.
Then we have some really awesome
and wonderfully sweet joyful
moments.
Each emotion was created by God!
Our emotions are apart of our
 DNA makeup.
God created us as emotional beings….
Sometimes we experience all our
emotions in one day….
That would be us ladies, mostly…..
I call it my female emotional
rollercoaster—LOL 😀
However, we can not allow
our emotions to dictate to us.
We can not allow our emotions
to keep us in a bad attitude
day and night.
We must deal with our emotions
and make our attitude submit
to the Word of God….
We must be in self-control.
When I have a no good,
very bad day…..
and nothing seems to go right
for me…..
I make myself read Gods
Holy Anointed Words
and I soak in His radiate
SONSHINE all through
my mind, will, emotion,
heart and spirit.
Then I put in some really
awesome praise music….
raise my hands and
sing from the depths of
my soul….literally 😀
God does say make a
joyful NOISE….LOL
The only way to get an
attitude in check is to
seek God.
Read Gods word.
Sing praises to God.
Crucify the flesh.
and
Seek the Holy Spirits
guidance in the situation.
Then Yield and Obey
Gods instructions,
corrections, and
directions.
Just learning to lean on
Jesus Day in and Day out 😀
Then we can learn to have an
attitude like Jesus…..
Philippians 2:5 NIV
“Your attitude should be
the same as that of
Christ Jesus.”
amen 😀
Dearest Heavenly Father
I come to You today, Lord,
with a grateful heart…..
I am so very grateful that
You, my King, call me
Your Friend.
I am so blessed to know
that I can come to You
in good times with
rejoicing.
I am so blessed to know
that I can come to You with
a broken heart, with tears
flowing down like rain.
I am so happy to know that
You, Holy Father, love me
so much that You wrap
me in Your loving embrace
each new dawn of each
new day.
Thank You for showing
me how to be a good friend
to my brothers and sisters
here on earth.
Thank You for showing me
the truth about how to
love my neighbors.
I thank You, Jesus, for making
the ultimate FRIENDSHIP
sacrificefor ME & the world…..
Thank You, Jesus, for laying
Your Holy, sinless life down
on that wretched cross.
Thank You, Jesus, for my
salvation through Your
unselfish acts of
true love and friendship.
Lord, I just want to be
a friend to You….
unselfish in every way.
Lord, I just want to
be more like You
in my daily walk on
this earth…..
A true friend to those You
put in my path…as You
are a true friend to me.
Thank You, Father, for hearing
my deepest heart’s desire today.
“If I take offense easily;
 then I know nothing of Calvary love.”
Friendship
I have been told many times through
out my life if a person has ONE TRUE
FRIEND….then that person is Truly
Blessed and Truly Rich…..
And I agree completely.
To many times we think we need to
look like we have 20 besties….
but in fact each of us really
have less than five truly best
friends that we can call upon
day or night to help us in
our time of need.
Friends that we can
cry with,
laugh with,
dance with,
sing with,
be silly with,
be serious with,
and sometimes even
be fussy with…..
We can let our hair down…
No makeup….
We can run around in our P.J.’s,
with backdoor visits….
sitting at the kitchen table
with a great cup of tea
and a warm conversation 😀
I am so very, very grateful for all
the women in my life I can call
my friend….
And I am very grateful for all who
call me their friend 😀
But I am honored by the few that
I am truly besties with 😀
Those ladies that know my
 deepest innermost secrets….
good or bad…..
And they love me anyway…LOL
And I know theirs 😀
I love you ladies!!!!!!!!!!! 😀
But I want to take friendship to a new
level……
A friendship with Jesus…
A friendship with God….
A close friendship with the Holy Spirit….
Now that is truly the
best-est of the best-est
and the greatest of greatest
friendships that any of us
could ever have!
 😀 amen 😀
John 15:12-16 a  NIV
“My command is this:
Love each other as
I have loved you.
Greater love has no one
than this: to lay down
one’s life for one’s
friends.
You are my friends if
you do what I command.
I no longer call you
servants, because
a servant does not know
his master’s business.
Instead, I have called you
FRIENDS, for everything
that I learned from my
Father I have made
known to you.
You did not choose me,
but I chose you…..”
A Friend in Need
FRIENDSHIP gives license to show up at the door
of need with out asking,…
“When would you like me to come?”
or
“What would you like me to do?”
Nor does FRIENDSHIP call out,
“Just let me know if you need anything.”
Practiced FRIENDSHIP whispers,
“I’ll be there”
and promptly steps through
the door with sensitivity,
respect, and understanding.
But what about honoring the right to invite?
Those who wait for parchment invitations
wait long, for need rarely throws a party–
rarely even has a voice.
Yet need has its own needs.
It needs protection from strangers
tromping in with work boots and good
intentions.
And it needs relief from acquaintances
wearing the spiked heels of advice
and pat answers.
Need waits with longing for the familiar
entrance of dear ones who pad
barefoot through the soul on
ordinary days.
Let me ask you…..
Are you a friend that is a giver,
encourager, comforter, listener,
and holder of wonderful fun
memories?
Or
Are you a friend that is to wrapped
up in your own life and your own
issues…To busy to be available
to anyone else?
What if Jesus was only available
to His friends when He was not
busy?
Just something to think about….
Daily Prayer—Feb 7, 2015
Dearest Heavenly Father;
I just want to praise You!
I just want to sing Hallelujah
day and night
night and day
in Honor of You, King Jesus…..
I praise You, my Lord, my King!
Lord, I extol You!
Holy Father, I exalt You
above all.
I want to sit in Your Holy
presence and just bask in
Your Righteous Glory.
Lord, I just want to sit
with You and feel Your
warmth on my face.
Holy Father, I desire
to walk with You each
and every day of my life.
Holy Father, I hunger and
thirst for more of You in
my wretched life.
Oh, Holy Sovereign King,
I put my hope, my life,
my future into Your Holy
Hands.
Master, Have Your Way
in me and through me.
I stand here in total awe
of You, my Lord.
I stand here in my shame
and muck…..and I embrace
the Holy covering
of Your precious Blood.
Forgiven of all my
wretched sin.
I am now Purified by the
priceless Blood of King Jesus.
I stand boldly before You
today, Holy Father, and
give You praise.
I stand before You,
Holy Father, and know that
I am Yours…..
None can take me from
Your Holy embrace.
I stand in fear and trembling
knowing that there is no
other that can protect me,
heal me, redeem me,
provide for me, love me….
there is no other god that
can save my soul from
eternal damnation.
I praise You, Holy Father
from the depths of my soul.
I praise You, Holy Father,
from the deepest darkest
places of my heart.
Lord, I praise You with all
I have…..
I pray that You, my Lord
and my King, will be blessed
by my humble, feeble
attempt to show You how
much I love You.
I know that there are no words
in my vocabulary that
is capable of describing
Your holiness or even honor
You properly.
But, I will use what I have…
I will Exalt You with my
actions.
I will Exalt You with the
words that roll off my tongue.
I will Exalt You with
the talents You have
blessed me with.
I will sing…
All Hail, King Jesus
All Hail, King Jesus
All Honor
All Glory
All Power
All Praise
To You, my King Jesus,
To You, my Lord,
To You, my Savior
To You, Holy Father!
Let all who walk this
earth bow down in
honor and praise
to the King of Kings
and the Lord of Lords,
Jesus Christ,
the Holy Lamb of God!
Thank You, Father, for hearing
my deepest heart’s desire today.
I pray that it blesses You today,
Lord.
In the Mighty & Powerful Name of Jesus Christ I Pray….amen and amen
